C. M. Weber

Carmelo Crucitti offers a unique interpretation of the Andante and Ronḍ Ongarese by Weber for the bassoon and orchestra.

Apart from the delicate sound produced by his specially devised technique, he demonstrates the ability to play the Ronḍ at the same speed as a violist. In fact, you should note that this piece was written for the viola in 1809, and soon after for the bassoon. The best Violists play this piece at a faster speed than 100 on the metronome. With his particular "triple staccato" technique, he can play this with great ease.

Until now and as far as we are aware, we have not yet met any other bassoonist capable of playing the Ronḍ at the original speed requested by the composer.
